children of all ages from toddlers to adolescents benefit from the healing power of massage therapy

Not only does massage therapy help to relieve some common early newborn discomforts such as gas, colic and reflux, but a soothing touch can also help calm the nervous system leading to better sleep and improved immune system function.

It has been shown that therapeutic touch, such as massage therapy, encourages a child’s brain and nervous system growth. In addition, treatment can stimulate circulation, aid in digestion, improve sensory awareness and processing and can hugely benefit children with special needs.

Infant and child massage therapy takes into consideration each child’s individual and unique physical and cognitive stage in development.

Research shows that infant massage has been beneficial with the following:

  • relieves discomfort from gas, colic, and constipation

  • improves blood circulation

  • aids in digestion

  • enhances development of the nervous system

  • stimulates neurological development

  • reduces stress hormones

  • boosts immune function

  • encourages positive touch

Now offering Craniosacral therapy. This is a gentle manual therapy technique that works to release fascia within the entire body. With light touch and gentle movements, we assess and release areas of tension so that the body can relax and heal itself. This can help to improve latch, calm a fussy baby and improve overall mobility.

have a question?

If you have any questions about RMT for babies and children, please use our chat box, or contact us.

Babies love our RMT’s and you can expect a hands on treatment with a gentle loving touch. We focus on your goals with your baby - whether that’s relaxation or helping them hit their milestones. We will also give you tips to help you get the most out of massaging your baby in the comfort of your home.

Not at all! Most babies will fall into a deep sleep during their appointment with our baby obsessed RMTs. They usually sleep quite well post treatment (you can thank us later!). Some more intricate work through the neck and jaw can be uncomfortable or foreign to them, but will not be painful.

We can see them fresh! You can bring your baby in as early as you’re comfortable! That could look like days, weeks, months – we want you to feel comfortable.

Colic, digestion upsets, sleeping, mobility issues and more! We can also help you work on different feeding positions so that new mom vibe doesn’t seem so overwhelming.

Only if you want to! How the treatment plan goes is completely up to you. You can be as involved as little or as much as you’d like to.

Any parent or caregiver of the baby! It’s important a parent be present for consent but mom, dad, or caregiver – we’re happy to see you! Some chest-feeding parents prefer to be there so they can ask questions about feeding. And some non-chest-feeding parents prefer to bring the baby so they can learn some techniques to help them feel more involved. If both parents want to come, that’s ok too!

Based on the first appointment and treatment, our RMTs will discuss a treatment plan with you to ensure your baby is feeling better.

Babies are babies and they often love being on their own schedule - and that’s wonderful!
We know things don’t always go as expected during a treatment - sometimes a feed happens during therapy or a dirty diaper needs to be changed. We know what is’ like and we’re here for it.
While it’s not necessary, some parents/caregivers may feed baby prior to the appointment to help calm baby. Waiting 45 minutes after a feed is an ideal time for treatment.

The oil/lotion used at wellbe is hypoallergenic and safe for baby’s sensitive skin. If you feel more comfortable, please feel free to bring in your baby’s own oil/lotion from home.
